حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ قَالَ

عَلِيٌّ لَمَّا أَلْقَى الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ خَاتَمَهُ فِي قَبْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَا يَتَحَدَّثُ النَّاسُ أَنَّكَ نَزَلْتَ فِي قَبْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلَا تُحَدِّثُ أَنْتَ النَّاسَ أَنَّ خَاتَمَكَ فِي قَبْرِهِ فَنَزَلَ عَلِيٌّ وَقَدْ رَأَى مَوْقِعَهُ فَتَنَاوَلَهُ فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَيْهِسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ Ali, when al-Mughira b. Shuba threw his ring into the grave of the Prophet ﷺ, said: "Do not let people say that you went down into the grave of the Prophet ﷺ, and do not tell people that your ring is in his grave." So Ali went down, saw where it lay, picked it up, and gave it back to him. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
