✧ The virtues of Sa'id bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nu'ayl, the tenth of the ten.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ عَنِ الْمَسْعُودِيِّ عَنْ نُفَيْلِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ جَدَّهُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَبِيهِ زَيْدٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبِي زَيْدَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ كَانَ كَمَا رَأَيْتَ وَكَمَا بَلَغَكَ وَلَوْ أَدْرَكَكَ لَآمَنَ بِكَ فَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ وَقَالَ «فَإِنَّهُ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً» فَكَانَ فِيمَا ذَكَرُوا يَطْلُبُ الدِّينَ وَمَاتَ وَهُوَ فِي طَلَبِهِ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ His grandfather Sa'id b. Zayd asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about his father Zayd, saying: O Messenger of Allah, my father Zayd b. 'Amr b. Nufayl was as you saw and as you have heard, and if he had reached you he would have believed in you, so seek forgiveness for him. He said: Yes. So he sought forgiveness for him and said: Indeed, he will come on the Day of Resurrection as a nation by himself. He was, as they mentioned, seeking the religion and died while seeking it. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
