حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ صُهَيْبُ بْنُ سِنَانِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَقِيلِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ وَكَانَ أَبُوهُ سِنَانُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ عَامِلًا لِكِسْرَى عَلَى الْأُبُلَّةِ وَكَانَتْ مَنَازِلُهُمْ بِأَرْضِ الْمَوْصِلِ فِي قَرْيَةٍ عَلَى شَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ مِمَّا يَلِي الْجَزِيرَةَ وَالْمَوْصِلِ فَأَغَارَتِ الرُّومُ عَلَى تِلْكَ النَّاحِيَةِ فَسُبِيَ صُهَيْبٌ وَهُوَ غُلَامٌ صَغِيرٌ قَالَ
عَمُّهُ [البحر الرجز] أَنْشُدُ بِاللَّهِ الْغُلَامَ النَّمَرِي دَجَّ بِهِ الرُّومَ وَأَهْلِي بِالنَّبِي قَالَ وَالنَّبِيُّ اسْمُ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَ بِهَا أَهْلُهُ فَنَشَأَ صُهَيْبٌ بِالرُّومِ فَابْتَاعَتْهُ مِنْهُمْ كَلْبٌ ثُمَّ قَدِمَتْ بِهِ مَكَّةَ فَاشْتَرَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جُدْعَانَ التَّيْمِيُّ فَأَعْتَقَهُ فَأَقَامَ مَعَهُ بِمَكَّةَ حَتَّى هَلَكَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جُدْعَانَ وَبُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ

✧ His uncle recited: "I adjure by Allah the Namari youth, the Romans took him as a child, but my family is in al-Nabi." He said: Al-Nabi is the name of the village where his family was. So Suhaib grew up among the Romans, and Kalb purchased him from them. Then she brought him to Makkah, and 'Abd Allah b. Jud'an al-Taymi bought him and freed him. He stayed with him in Makkah until 'Abd Allah b. Jud'an died, and the Prophet ﷺ was sent.
