أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّيْخُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ
«صُهَيْبٌ يُكَنَّى أَبَا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ صُهَيْبُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ النَّمَرِيُّ مِنَ النَّمِرِ بْنِ قَاسِطٍ وَكَانَ أَصَابَهُ سَبْيٌ فَوَقَعَ بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ» فَقِيلَ «صُهَيْبُ الرُّومِ بَلَغَ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً وَكَانَ يُخَضِّبُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ مَاتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي شَوَّالٍ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَدُفِنَ بِالْبَقِيعِ»
Translation

✧ Suhaib's kunyah was Abu Yahya. He is Suhaib b. Sinan al-Namari, from al-Namir b. Qasit. He had been taken captive and fell into the land of the Romans. So it was said, 'Suhaib al-Rumi.' He reached seventy years and used to dye with henna. He died in Madinah in Shawwal of the year thirty-eight and was buried in al-Baqi'.
