✧ I was in Wasit al-Qasab in the house of 'Abd al-A'la ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Amir. The doorkeeper said, "This is Abu Ghadiyah al-Juhani seeking permission." 'Abd al-A'la said, "Let him in." He was admitted, wearing tattered clothes, and behold, he was a tall, lean man, as if he were not from this ummah. When he sat down, he said, "We used to count 'Ammar ibn Yasir among the best of us." He said, "By Allah, I was in the Mosque of Quba when he said—and he mentioned a word—if I had found helpers against him, I would have trampled him until I killed him." He said, "On the day of Siffin, he came walking at the head of the battalion on foot until he was between the two ranks. He thrust a man with a spear and brought him down, and the helmet fell away from him, and he struck him, and behold, it was the head of 'Ammar ibn Yasir." He said, "A client of ours said: I have not seen a man more clearly astray than him." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
