أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّيْخُ الْإِمَامُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ
«الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ يُكَنَّى أَبَا مَعْبَدٍ مَاتَ سَنَةَ ثَلَاثِينَ بَلَغَ نَحْوًا مِنْ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً وَكَانَ يُصَفِّرُ لِحْيَتَهُ مَاتَ بِالْجُرْفِ فَحُمِلَ عَلَى رِقَابِ الرِّجَالِ وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ وَدُفِنَ بِالْبَقِيعِ»

✧ Al-Miqdad b. al-Aswad was given the kunya Abu Ma'bad. He died in the year thirty, having reached about seventy years of age. He used to dye his beard yellow. He died at al-Jurf and was carried on the shoulders of men, and Uthman b. Affan prayed over him, and he was buried in al-Baqi'.
