✧ He looked upon the Prophet ﷺ at Uhud while he was in pain, and in the hand of Ali b. Abi Talib was a shield containing water, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was washing his face from that water. Hatib said to him: “Who did this to you?” He said: “Utbah b. Abi Waqqas smashed my face and broke my front tooth with a stone he threw at me.” I said: “I heard a crier crying out on the mountain, ‘Muhammad has been killed,’ so I came to you, and my soul had almost left me.” I said: “Where did Utbah go?” He pointed to where he went, so I went until I caught him and struck him with the sword and threw down his head. Then I descended, took his head, his spoils, and his horse, and brought them to the Prophet ﷺ, who granted that to me and prayed for me, saying “ ؓ ” twice.
