أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ يَقُولُ

«إِنَّ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ هَلَكَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَمَانٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَهُوَ إِمَامُ الْعُلَمَاءِ بِرَتْوَةٍ»
