فَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا ضَمْرَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَوْذَبٍ قَالَ
جَعَلَ أَبُو أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ ينْصِبُ الْأَلَّ لِأَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَجَعَلَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ يَحِيدُ عَنْهُ فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَ الْجِرَاحَ قَصَدَهُ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ فَقَتَلَهُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِيهِ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ حِينَ قَتَلَ أَبَاهُ {لَا تَجِدُ قَوْمًا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ يُوَادُّونَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُوا آبَاءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ} [المجادلة 22] سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
Translation

✧ The father of Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah began to set up the idol for Abu Ubaidah on the day of Badr, and Abu Ubaidah kept turning away from him. When he persisted in fighting, Abu Ubaidah went straight for him and killed him. Then Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse about him when he killed his father: {You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons} [al-Mujadilah: 22]. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
