أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ الْحَافِظُ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَافِظُ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ثنا أَبُو الْعُمَيْسِ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ لَمَّا مَاتَ أَبِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ بَكَى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ أَتَبْكِي؟ فَقَالَ

«أَخِي وَصَاحِبِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَالثَّالِثُ وَأَحَبُّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ مِنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ إسناده صحيح
