أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَبُو يُونُسَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ
«أَبُو سُفْيَانَ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ اسْمُهُ الْمُغِيرَةُ تُوُفِّيَ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ»
