✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ taught me, and among what he taught me he said: "Guard the five prayers." I said: "These are hours in which I have occupations, so tell me a comprehensive matter that, if I do it, will suffice me." He said: "Guard the two ʿaṣrs." He said: It was not from our language, so I said: "What are the two ʿaṣrs?" He said: "A prayer before sunrise and a prayer before sunset." Abū Ḥarb ibn Abī al-Aswad al-Dīlī is a major successor, having met senior Companions; his hearing is not diminished from Faḍālah ibn ʿUbayd al-Laythī, for Hushaym ibn Bashīr is a well-known memorizer, and Khālid ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Wāsiṭī is the author of a book. This is in sum as Muslim included in the Book of Faith the hadith of Shuʿbah from ʿUthmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mawhab, and after it from Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān from his father. Hushaym was contradicted; Khālid ibn ʿAbd Allāh related it from Abū Ḥarb, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Faḍālah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ taught me.
