حَدَّثَنَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ
بَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنَّ قَوْمًا نَالُوا مِنْهُ وَقَالُوا لَهُ إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَثَلِ نَخْلَةٍ نَبَتَتْ فِي كُنَاسٍ فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ خَلْقَهُ فَجَعَلَهُمْ فِرْقَتَيْنِ فَجَعَلَنِي فِي خَيْرِ الْفِرْقَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُمْ قَبَائِلَ فَجَعَلَنِي فِي خَيْرِهُمْ قَبِيلًا ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُمْ بُيُوتًا فَجَعَلَنِي فِي خَيْرِهُمْ بَيْتًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ قَبِيلًا وَخَيْرُكُمْ بَيْتًا» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ It reached the Prophet ﷺ that a people spoke ill of him and said: “The likeness of Muhammad is only that of a palm tree that grew in a rubbish heap.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry, then said: “O people, Allah created His creation and made them into two groups, and He placed me in the better of the two groups. Then He made them into tribes, and He placed me in the best tribe. Then He made them into houses, and He placed me in the best house.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I am the best of you in tribe and the best of you in house.” Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
