أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُوسَى الْقَاضِي بْنِ الْقَاضِي حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ
كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى لِحْيَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ كَأَنَّهُ ضِرَامُ عَرْفجٍ مِنْ شِدَّةِ حُمْرَتِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ «لَوْ أَقْرَرْتَ الشَّيْخَ فِي بَيْتِهِ لَأَتَيْنَاهُ تَكْرِمَةً لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ It is as if I am looking at the beard of Abu Quhafa, as if it were the blazing of an arfaj bush from the intensity of its redness. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Bakr: “If you had let the old man remain in his house, we would have come to him, as an honor to Abu Bakr.” Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
