حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ شُيُوخِهِ

أَنَّ «ضِرَارَ بْنَ الْأَزْوَرِ الشَّاعِرَ اسْمُ الْأَزْوَرِ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَوْسِ بْنِ جَذِيمَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ وَكَانَ ضِرَارُ فَارِسًا شَاعِرًا شَهِدَ يَوْمَ الْيَمَامَةِ فَقَاتَلَ أَشَدَّ الْقِتَالِ حَتَّى قُطِعَتْ سَاقَاهُ جَمِيعًا فَجَعَلَ يَجْثُو عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَيُقَاتِلُ وَتَطَأَهُ الْخَيْلُ حَتَّى غَلَبَهُ الْمَوْتُ»

✧ Dirar ibn al-Azwar the poet—the name of al-Azwar was Malik ibn Aws ibn Jadhima ibn Rabi'a ibn Malik ibn Tha'laba ibn Asad ibn Khuzayma. Dirar was a horseman and a poet. He witnessed the Day of al-Yamama and fought the fiercest fighting until both his legs were cut off. He then kneeled on his knees and fought on, and the horses trampled him until death overcame him.
