حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ثنا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هَانِئٍ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«إِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ لَيَخْلَقُ فِي جَوْفِ أَحَدِكُمْ كَمَا يَخْلَقُ الثَّوْبُ الْخَلِقُ، فَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ أَنْ يُجَدِّدَ الْإِيمَانَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Īmān (faith) wears out (deteriorates) within ˹the depths˺ of each one of you just as worn out clothing has been worn out. Therefore, ask Allah to renew Īmān in your hearts."

Notes

  • This ḥadīth was not collected in the two Ṣaḥīhs and the narrators are reliable and Egyptians. Muslim objected to the ḥadīth in his Ṣaḥīḥ that was narrated from Ibn Abū ʿUmar > al-Muqrī > Ḥaywah > Abū Hāniʾ > Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ḥubulī > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr > from the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Allah ﷻ decreed the destinies/timespans of the creation before he created the skies and the earth."

  • هَذَا حَدِيثٌ لَمْ يُخَرَّجْ فِي الصَّحِيحَيْنِ وَرُوَاتُهُ مِصْرِيُّونَ ثِقَاتٌ وَقَدِ احْتَجَّ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِالْحَدِيثِ الَّذِي رَوَاهُ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ عَنْ الْمُقْرِئِ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هَانِئٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى ذِكْرُهُ كَتَبَ مَقَادِيرَ الْخَلَائِقِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ» الْحَدِيثَ رواته ثقات
