✧ Regarding the statement of Yazid bin Muhammad al-Qurashi

فَحَدَّثَنَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقُرَشِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

أَتَى نَفَرٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا نَصِيدُ فِي الْبَحْرِ وَمَعَنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ الْعَذْبِ فَرُبَّمَا تَخَوَّفْنَا الْعَطَشَ فَهَلْ يَصْلُحُ أَنْ نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنَ الْبَحْرِ الْمَالِحِ؟ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ تَوَضَّئُوا مِنْهُ» وَأَمَّا «الْبُخَارِيُّ يَزِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ هَذَا فِي التَّارِيخِ وَأَنَّهُ قَدْ رَوَى عَنْهُ اللَّيْثُ بْنُ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ فَمِنْهُمْ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ»

✧ A group of people came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'We fish in the sea, and we have fresh water with us. Sometimes we fear thirst. Is it permissible for us to perform ablution with salty seawater?' He said: 'Yes, perform ablution with it.' Al-Bukhari mentioned Yazid b. Muhammad al-Qurashi in his Tarikh, and that al-Layth b. Abi Burdah narrated from him, among them Sa'id b. al-Musayyib.
