✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out to Badr, Sa'd b. Khaythamah and his father both wanted to go out with him. They mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he ordered that one of them should go out, so they cast lots. Khaythamah b. al-Harith said to his son Sa'd, "One of us must stay behind, so stay with your wives." Sa'd said, "If it were anything other than Paradise, I would have preferred you with it. I hope for martyrdom in this expedition of mine." They cast lots, and Sa'd's arrow came out, so he went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Badr, and Amr b. Abd Wadd killed him.
