✧ "Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib was pledged allegiance to in Kufa shortly after the killing of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali. He received the pledge from his companions. Haritha ibn Mudarrib narrated to me, saying, 'I heard al-Hasan ibn Ali say, "By God, I will not pledge allegiance to you except on what I tell you."' They asked, 'What is it?' He replied, 'You will make peace with whomever I make peace, and you will fight whomever I fight.' And when the pledge was completed, he addressed them."
