✧ Al-Hajjaj said: 'He was not from the progeny of the Prophet ﷺ,' while Yahya b. Ya'mar was with him. He said to him: 'You have lied, O commander.' He said: 'You must bring me clear proof and confirmation from the Book of Allah ﷻ for what you say, or I will surely kill you.' He said: '{And from his progeny, Dawud, Sulayman, Ayyub, Yusuf, Musa} up to His ﷻ saying {and Zakariyya, Yahya, Isa, and Ilyas} [Al-An'am 85]. So Allah ﷻ informed that Isa is from the progeny of Adam through his mother, and al-Husayn b. Ali is from the progeny of Muhammad ﷺ through his mother.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth. So what made you contradict me in the assembly?' He said: 'What Allah took upon the prophets: to make it clear to the people and not conceal it. Allah ﷻ said: {But they threw it away behind their backs and purchased with it a small price} [Al 'Imran 187].' He said: So he exiled him to Khurasan. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
