أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَوْنٍ الْمُقْرِئُ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ غُرَابٍ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ

لَمَّا ضَرَبَ ابْنُ مُلْجَمٍ عَلِيًّا تِلْكَ الضَّرْبَةَ أَوْصَى بِهِ عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ «قَدْ ضَرَبَنِي فَأَحْسِنُوا إِلَيْهِ وَأَلْينُوا لَهُ فِرَاشَهُ فَإِنْ أَعِشْ فَهَضْمٌ أَوْ قِصَاصٌ وَإِنْ أَمُتْ فَعَالِجُوهُ فَإِنِّي مُخَاصِمُهُ عِنْدَ رَبِّي ﷻ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ When Ibn Muljam struck Ali that blow, Ali gave instructions concerning him, saying: 'He has struck me, so treat him well and soften his bedding. If I live, it is retaliation or pardon; if I die, then deal with him, for I will dispute with him before my Lord, exalted be He.' Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
