✧ I heard al-Hasan say: Talhah and al-Zubayr came to Basrah, so the people said to them, 'What brought you?' They said, 'We seek the blood of Uthman.' Al-Hasan said, 'Glory be to Allah! Did the people not have any intellects to say, "By Allah, none killed Uthman but you"?' He said, then when Ali came to Kufah, and the people had no intellects to say, 'O man, we indeed, by Allah, did not guarantee you.' Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in al-Talkhis.
