فَحَدَّثَنَا بِصِحَّةِ حَالِهِ فِيهِ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَهْدِيِّ بْنِ رُسْتُمَ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الْقُرَشِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّهُ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ حَرَصْتُ أَنْ أَتَسَمَّتُ بِسَمْتِكَ وَأَقْتَدِي بِكَ فِي أَمْرِ فُرْقَةِ النَّاسِ وَأَعْتَزِلُ الشَّرَّ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ وَإِنِّي أَقْرَأُ آيَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مُحْكَمَةً قَدْ أَخَذَتْ بِقَلْبِي فَأَخْبِرْنِي عَنْهَا أَرَأَيْتَ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ ﷻ {وَإِنْ طَائِفَتَانِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اقْتَتَلُوا فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا فَإِنْ بَغَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فَقَاتِلُوا الَّتِي تَبْغِي حَتَّى تَفِيءَ إِلَى أَمْرِ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ فَاءَتْ فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا بِالْعَدْلِ وَأَقْسِطُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ}

✧ That while he was sitting with 'Abdullāh ibn 'Umar, a man from the people of Iraq came to him and said, 'O Abū 'Abd al-Raḥmān, by Allah, I have been eager to follow your way and imitate you in the matter of the division of the people, and to keep away from evil as much as I can. I recite a decisive verse from the Book of Allah that has taken hold of my heart, so tell me about it. What do you think of the saying of Allah, Exalted is He: {And if two factions among the believers fight, make peace between them. But if one of them transgresses against the other, then fight against the one that transgresses until it returns to the command of Allah. And if it returns, then make peace between them with justice and act equitably. Indeed, Allah loves those who act equitably.}?'

  • [الحجرات 9] أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ مَا لَكَ وَلِذَلِكَ؟ انْصَرِفْ عَنِّي فَانْطَلَقَ حَتَّى تَوَارَى عَنّا سَوَادُهُ وَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ «مَا وَجَدْتُ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ شَيْءٍ فِي أَمْرِ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ مَا وَجَدْتُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أُقَاتِلْ هَذِهِ الْفِئَةَ الْبَاغِيَةَ كَمَا أَمَرَنِي اللَّهُ ﷻ» هَذَا بَابٌ كَبِيرٌ قَدْ رَوَاهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْ كِبَارِ التَّابِعِينَ وَإِنَّمَا قَدَّمْتُ حَدِيثَ شُعَيْبَ بْنَ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَاقْتَصَرْتُ عَلَيْهِ لِأَنَّهُ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ على شرط البخاري ومسلم
