machine translationI asked my father about a hadith narrated by al-Thawrī from ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr, from Hilāl, the freed slave of Ribʿī, from Ribʿī, from Ḥudhayfah, raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ): "Follow the two who come after me." Zāʾidah and others narrated it from ʿAbd al-Malik, from Ribʿī, from Ḥudhayfah, raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ). Which of the two is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ)? He said: What al-Thawrī said, for he added a man and transmitted the hadith well.
machine translationThere is disagreement about its chain of transmission and it is criticized because of the freed slave of Ribʿī, who is unknown (majhūl) according to them.
in المستدرك على الصحيحين, p. 4480 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationThe hadith of Ḥudhayfah is good (ḥasan).
