✧ We wanted to wash the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the people differed about it. Some said, 'Should we strip the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as we strip our dead, or wash him with his clothes on?' Then Allah cast sleep upon them until every man among them was asleep with his chin on his chest. Then a voice from the side of the house said, 'Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is to be washed with his clothes on?' So they washed him with his shirt on, pouring water over him and rubbing him from above it. Aisha said: 'By Allah, if I had known beforehand what I came to know afterward, none would have washed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except his wives.'
