حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ طَارِقٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ حِينَ جَاءَهُ رَسُولَا مُسَيْلِمَةَ الْكَذَّابِ بِكِتَابِهِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَهُمَا «وَأَنْتُمَا تَقُولَانِ بِمِثْلِ مَا يَقُولُ؟» قَالَا نَعَمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «وَاللَّهِ لَوْلَا أَنَّ الرُّسُلَ لَا تُقْتَلُ لَضَرَبْتُ أَعْنَاقَكُمَا»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say when the two messengers of Musaylima the Liar came to him with his letter, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, “Do you two say the like of what he says?” They said, “Yes.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “By Allah, were it not that messengers are not to be killed, I would strike your necks.”
