machine translationMuṭarrif b. Ṭarīf narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Abū Jaʿfar al-Rāzī narrated it from Muṭarrif, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Laylā, from ʿAlī, but Abū ʿAwānah contradicted him: he narrated it from Muṭarrif, from a man called Kathīr, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Laylā, from ʿAlī. This Kathīr is unknown (majhūl), and Muṭarrif did not hear from Ibn Abī Laylā. This hadith is narrated by ʿAbdullāh al-Rāzī from Ibn Abī Laylā, from ʿAlī; al-Ḥusayn b. Maymūn related it from him, as Hāshim b. al-Barīd said on his authority.
