أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَحْمَسِيُّ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
«اخْتَارَ اللَّهُ لِنُبُوَّتِهِ وَانْتَخَبَ لِرِسَالَتِهِ دَاوُدَ بْنَ إِيشَا فَجَمَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ذَلِكَ النُّورَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَزَادَهُ الزَّبُورَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَمَلَكَ دَاوُدُ بْنُ إِيشَا سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً فَأَنْصَفَ النَّاسَ بَعْضَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ وَقَضَى بِالْفَصْلِ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالَّذِي عَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ وَأَعْطَاهُ مِنْ حِكْمَتِهِ وَأَمَرَ رَبُّنَا الْجِبَالَ فَأَطَاعَتْهُ وَأَلَانَ لَهُ الْحَدِيدَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَأَمَرَ رَبُّنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَحْمِلُ لَهُ التَّابُوتَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ دَاوُدُ يُدَبِّرُ بِعِلْمِ اللَّهِ وَنُورِهِ قَاضِيًا بِحَلَالِهِ نَاهِيًا عَنْ حَرَامِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَقْبِضَهُ إِلَيْهِ أَوْحَى إِلَيْهِ أَنِ أَسْتَوْدِعْ نُورَ اللَّهِ وَحِكْمَتِهِ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ إِلَى ابْنِكَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ فَفَعَلَ»

✧ Allah chose for His prophethood and selected for His message Dawud b. Isha. Allah gathered for him that light and wisdom and gave him additionally the Psalms from Himself. Dawud b. Isha ruled for seventy years. He dealt fairly among people, judged between them with finality by what Allah taught him and gave him of His wisdom. Our Lord commanded the mountains, and they obeyed him, and made iron soft for him by Allah's permission. Our Lord commanded the angels to carry the Ark for him. Dawud continued to manage by Allah's knowledge and light, judging by what He made lawful and forbidding what He made unlawful, until when Allah willed to take him to Himself, He revealed to him: Entrust Allah's light and wisdom, both apparent and hidden, to your son Sulayman b. Dawud. And he did so.
