حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْفَقِيهُ بِبُخَارَى ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ الْحَافِظُ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأُمَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ زِيَادَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَكَّائِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ أَبُو قُحَافَةَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ أَرَاكَ تُعْتَقُ رِقَابًا ضِعَافًا فَلَوْ أَنَّكَ إِذْ فَعَلْتَ مَا فَعَلْتَ أَعْتَقَتْ رِجَالًا جَلْدًا يَمْنَعُونَكَ وَيَقُومُونَ دُونَكَ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي إِنَّمَا أُرِيدُ مَا أُرِيدُ لِمَا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَاتُ فِيهِ {فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى} [الليل 6] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَى إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَى وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَى}

✧ Abu Quhafah said to Abu Bakr: "I see you freeing weak slaves. If you do what you do, you should free strong men who can protect you and stand in your defense." Abu Bakr said: "O my father, I only desire what I desire because of what was revealed about this: {As for him who gives and fears Allah, and believes in the best, We will ease him toward ease} [Al-Layl:6] up to His ﷻ saying {And no one has with him any favor to be repaid, except seeking the face of his Lord, the Most High. And he will soon be pleased}."
