✧ From ʿĀʾishah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, that she said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughing with a full laugh so that I could see his uvula; he would only smile. She said: When he saw clouds or wind, it was recognized in his face. I said, “O Messenger of Allah, when people see clouds, they rejoice, hoping that there is rain in them, but I see that when you see them, displeasure is recognized in your face.” He said, “O ʿĀʾishah, what assures me that there is no punishment in them? A people were punished with the wind, and it brought punishment upon a people.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited: “And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, ‘This is a cloud bringing us rain’” [al-Aḥqāf: 24], the verse.
