✧ When this verse was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: {Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die. Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, will dispute} [Az-Zumar: 31], I said, 'Will what was between us in this world, along with the specific sins, be repeated against us?' He said, 'Yes, it will surely be repeated against you until every rightful owner receives his due.' Al-Zubayr said: By Allah, the matter is indeed severe. machine translation"And what delight are we to be asked about, when it is only the two black things (dates and water)?" He said: "Indeed, that will come to be." It was narrated by Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah, from Muḥammad b. ʿAmr, from Yaḥyā, from ʿAbdullāh b. al-Zubayr, from al-Zubayr. Ziyād b. Ayyūb narrated it from Ibn ʿUyaynah and did not mention Ibn al-Zubayr in it; he cut it short and made it mursal (disconnected by omitting the Companion). The correct statement is that of the one who connected it.
