حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ؛ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ السَّدُوسِيُّ؛ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ؛ ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ؛ أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ؛ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ؛ حَدَّثَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَأَتَانِي الْعَبَّاسُ وَعَلِيٌّ فَقَالَا لِي يَا أُسَامَةُ اسْتَأْذِنْ لَنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ۔ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْذَنْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ الْعَبَّاسَ وَعَلِيًّا يَسْتَأْذِنَانِ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَاجَتُهُمَا؟» قُلْتُ لَا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَدْرِي قَالَ «لَكِنِّي أَدْرِي ائْذَنْ لَهُمَا۔» فَدَخَلَا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ جِئْنَاكَ نَسْأَلُكَ أَيُّ أَهْلِكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ «أَحَبُّ أَهْلِي إِلَيَّ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ» فَقَالَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَيْسَ نَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ قَالَ «فَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الَّذِي أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْهِ»

✧ I was in the mosque when Al-'Abbas and 'Ali came to me and said: O Usama, seek permission for us to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ and sought permission for them, saying: Al-'Abbas and 'Ali are seeking permission. He said: "Do you know what they need?" I said: No, by Allah, I do not know. He said: "But I know. Permit them." They entered upon him and said: O Messenger of Allah, we have come to ask you which of your family is most beloved to you. He said: "The most beloved of my family to me is Fatima bint Muhammad." They said: O Messenger of Allah, we are not asking you about Fatima. He said: "Then Usama b. Zayd, upon whom Allah has bestowed favor and upon whom I have bestowed favor."

  • This Ḥadīth is Ṣaḥīḥ and they did not collect it. ˹Dhahabī said: ʿUmar b. Abū Salamah is weak.˺

  • هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ۔ عمر بن أبي سلمة ضعيف
