أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْخَلِيلِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ سُمَيٍّ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ يَقُولُ سَيَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ {الم غَلَبَتِ الرُّومُ} [الروم 2] وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ غُلِبَتْ «صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ» صحيح

✧ I heard Abu al-Darda' say: "A people will come who recite {Alif Lam Mim. The Romans have been defeated} [Al-Rum 2], but it is only 'have been defeated' (ghulibat)." Sahih al-isnad, and they did not record it.
