✧ Allah will gather the people on the Day of Resurrection. A caller will call out: O people, are you not pleased that your Lord who created you, provided for you, and fashioned you should entrust every one of you to the one he used to take as a protector in the world? He said: A devil resembling 'Uzayr will be represented to those who worshipped 'Uzayr, until trees, sticks, and stones are represented to them. The people of Islam will remain kneeling, and it will be said to them: What is the matter with you that you do not go as the people go? They will say: We have a Lord whom we have not yet seen. He said: It will be said: How will you recognize your Lord if you see Him? They will say: Between us and Him there is a sign; if we see it, we will recognize Him. It will be said: What is it? They will say: He will uncover a shin. He said: Then a shin will be uncovered. He said: Then those whose backs were stiff will fall down prostrating, while a people whose backs are like the horns of cattle will remain, wanting to prostrate but unable. Then they will be commanded to raise their heads, and they will be given their light according to their deeds. Among them is one who is given his light like a mountain before him; among them is one given more than that; among them is one given his light like a palm tree in his right hand; and among them is one given less than that in his right hand, until the last of them is one whose light is on his big toe, shining at times and going out at times. When his foot shines, he walks; when it goes out, he stops. He will pass, and they will pass over the bridge. The bridge is like the edge of a sword, slippery and treacherous. It will be said: Pass according to your light. Among them is one who passes like a shooting star, one like the blink of an eye, one like the wind, one like a man running, and one who trots. They will pass according to their deeds, until the one whose light is on his big toe passes: he drags one hand and hangs the other, drags one foot and hangs the other, and the fire strikes his sides. He said: Then they will be saved. When they are saved, they will say: Praise be to Allah who saved us from you after what He showed us. Allah has given us what He has not given anyone. Masruq said: 'Abd Allah never reached this point in this hadith except that he laughed. A man said to him: O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, you have narrated this hadith many times, and whenever you reach this point you laugh. 'Abd Allah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrate it many times, and he never reached this point except that he laughed until his uvula showed and the last of his molars appeared, because of the man's saying: Do You mock me when You are the Lord of the worlds? He says: No, but I am able to do that, so ask Me.
