✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he recited this verse: {Then there succeeded after them a succession} [al-A'raf 169]. He ﷺ said: "There will be a succession after sixty years who will neglect the prayer and follow desires, and they will meet evil. Then there will be a succession who recite the Quran but it does not go beyond their collarbones. Three types recite the Quran: a believer, a hypocrite, and a wicked person." Bashir said: I said to al-Walid: What are these three? He said: The hypocrite is a disbeliever, the wicked person consumes by it, and the believer believes in it.
