حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ بُخْتٍ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيِّ

أَنَّهُ جَاءَ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ قَالَ مَا أَعْمَلَكَ إِلَيَّ إِلَّا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ مَا أَعْمَلْتُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا لِذَلِكَ قَالَ «فَأَبْشِرْ فَإِنَّهُ مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَخْرُجُ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا بَسَطَتْ لَهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا رِضًى بِمَا يَفْعَلُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ»

✧ He came asking him about something. He said, “What made you come to me except that?” He said, “I came to you only for that.” He said, “Rejoice, for no man goes out seeking knowledge but the angels spread their wings for him in pleasure at what he does, until he returns.”
