✧ When Allah revealed {And do not approach the property of the orphan except in the way that is best} [Al-An'am 152] and {Indeed, those who devour the property of orphans unjustly are only consuming fire into their bellies, and they will be burned in a Blaze} [An-Nisa 10], whoever had an orphan under his care separated his food from his own food and his drink from his own drink. Then if something was left over from the orphan's food, it was kept for him until he ate it or it spoiled. That became difficult for them, so they mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then Allah ﷻ revealed {They ask you about orphans. Say, 'Improvement for them is best. And if you mix with them, they are your brothers'} [Al-Baqarah 220]. So they mixed their food with their food and their drink with their drink.
