حَدَّثَنَا الْفَسَوِيُّ مِنْ أَصْلِ كِتَابِهِ لَفْظًا ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الْفَسَوِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ثنا أَبِي يَعْلَى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ

أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ عِنْدَهُ رَجُلَانِ نَصْرَانِيَّانِ عَلَى وَصِيَّةِ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ مَاتَ عِنْدَهُمْ قَالَ فَارْتَابَ أَهْلُ الْوَصِيَّةِ فَأَتَوْا بِهِمَا أَبَا مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيَّ فَاسْتَحْلَفَهُمَا بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ بِاللَّهِ مَا اشْتَرِيَا بِهِ ثَمَنًا وَلَا كَتَمَا شَهَادَةَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا إِذًا لَمِنَ الْآثِمِينَ قَالَ عَامِرٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذِهِ لَقِصَّةٌ

✧ Two Christian men testified before him concerning the will of a Muslim man who had died among them. He said: The heirs of the will became suspicious, so they brought the two to Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī, and he made them swear after the afternoon prayer by Allah that they had not sold it for a price and had not concealed the testimony of Allah, [saying], “Indeed, we would then be among the sinful.” ʿĀmir said: Then Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī said, “By Allah, this is a story [a case].”
