✧ When this verse was revealed: {If you disclose what is in your souls or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it} [Al-Baqarah 284], it weighed heavily upon them as nothing similar had before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, “Say: We hear and we obey.” So Allah cast faith into their hearts, and they said: We hear and we obey. Then Allah ﷻ revealed: {Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity. It will have what it earned and upon it what it incurred} [Al-Baqarah 286] until His saying: {or we erred} [Al-Baqarah 286]. He said: “I have done so” until the end of Al-Baqarah.
