✧ The first thing that was abrogated from the Quran, as was mentioned to us, was the matter of the qiblah. Allah said: {To Allah belong the east and the west, so wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allah} [Al-Baqarah 115]. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced it and prayed toward the Sacred House in Jerusalem, and left the Ancient House. Then Allah, Exalted is He, said: {The foolish among the people will say, 'What has turned them away from their qiblah, which they used to face?'} [Al-Baqarah 142], meaning the Sacred House in Jerusalem. So He abrogated it and turned him toward the Ancient House. Then Allah, Exalted is He, said: {And from wherever you set out, turn your face toward the Sacred Mosque. And wherever you are, turn your faces toward it} [Al-Baqarah 150].
