أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا حَبِيبَةَ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَأَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَا ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ الطَّائِيِّ قَالَ

أَوْصَى إِلَيَّ أَخِي بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ مَالِهِ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ أَخِي قَدْ أَوْصَى إِلَيَّ بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ مَالِهِ فَأَيْنَ أَضَعُهُ؟ فِي الْفُقَرَاءِ أَوِ الْمَسَاكِينِ أَوِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ؟ فَقَالَ أَمَّا أَنَا فَلَوْ كُنْتُ لَمْ أَعْدِلْ بِالْمُجَاهِدِينَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْتِقُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي يُهْدِي إِذَا شَبِعَ»

✧ My brother bequeathed to me a portion of his wealth, so I met Abu al-Darda' and said: My brother has bequeathed to me a portion of his wealth, so where should I put it? Among the poor, the needy, or the emigrants? He said: As for me, if I were in your place, I would not overlook the mujahidin, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The likeness of one who frees a slave at the time of death is like the likeness of one who gives a gift when he is full.'
