حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْهِلَالِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خُبَيْبٍ عَنْ جُنْدَبِ بْنِ مَكِيثٍ قَالَ

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ غَالِبٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ وَكُنْتُ فِيهِمْ وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَشُنُّوا الْغَارَةَ عَلَى بَنِي الْمُلَوِّحِ بِالْكَدِيدِ فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِالْكَدِيدِ لَقِينَا الْحَارِثَ بْنَ الْبَرْصَاءِ اللَّيْثِيُّ فَأَخَذْنَاهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا جِئْتُ أُرِيدُ الْإِسْلَامَ وَإِنَّمَا خَرَجْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقُلْنَا «إِنْ تَكُنْ مُسْلِمًا لَمْ يَضُرَّكْ رِبَاطُنَا يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً وَإِنْ تَكُنْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ نَسْتَوْثِقُ مِنْكَ فَشَدَدْنَاهُ وِثَاقًا»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Abdullah b. Ghalib al-Laythi on a military expedition, and I was among them. He ordered them to launch a raid on Banu al-Mulawwih at al-Kadid. We went out until, when we were at al-Kadid, we met al-Harith b. al-Barsa' al-Laythi. We seized him, and he said, 'I have only come seeking Islam, and I came out to go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' We said, 'If you are a Muslim, our holding you for a day and a night will not harm you, and if you are otherwise, we will secure you.' So we bound him firmly.
