حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ الْعَامِرِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمُؤْمِنِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا نَجْدَةُ بْنُ نُفَيْعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ اسْتَنْفَرَ حَيًّا مِنَ الْعَرَبِ فَتَثَاقَلُوا فَنَزَلَتْ {إِلَّا تَنْفِرُوا يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا} [التوبة 39] قَالَ كَانَ عَذَابُهُمْ حَبْسَ الْمَطَرِ عَنْهُمْ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called a tribe of Arabs to go forth, but they were sluggish, so it was revealed: {If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment} [al-Tawbah 39]. He said: Their punishment was that rain was withheld from them.
