أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعَنَزِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ الْيَمَانِ أَنَّ حَرِيزَ بْنَ عُثْمَانَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو رَاشِدٍ الْحُبْرَانِيُّ قَالَ

وَافَيْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ فَارِسَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ جَالِسًا عَلَى تَابُوتٍ مِنْ تَوَابِيتِ الصَّيَارِفَةِ وَفَصَلَ عَنْهَا عَظْمًا وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الْغَزْوَ فَقُلْتُ لَقَدْ أَعْذَرَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فَقَالَ ائْتِ عَلَى سُورَةِ الْبُحُوثِ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {انْفِرُوا خِفَافًا وَثِقَالًا} [التوبة 41] يَعْنِي سُورَةَ التَّوْبَةِ «هَذَا صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» صحيح

✧ I came to al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad, the horseman of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, sitting on a chest from the chests of the money-changers, having removed a bone from it, intending to go on a military expedition. I said, "Allah has excused you." He said, "Recite Surah al-Buhuth (meaning Surah al-Tawbah): Allah ﷻ said, {Go forth, light and heavy} [al-Tawbah 41]."
