✧ Captives were brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he ordered me to sell two brothers. I sold them and separated them. Then I came to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him, and he said: "Catch up with them, reclaim them, and sell them together, and do not separate them."

Notes

machine translationThis is a rare (gharīb) authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) hadith meeting the criterion of the two Shaykhs, though they did not record it. "It has also been said, from al-Ḥakam, from Maymūn b. Abī Shabīb, from ʿAlī, and that too is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ)." It meets the criterion of al-Bukhārī and Muslim; rare (gharīb).
