✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the delegation of Thaqif. We took one of the roads of Madinah until we made our camels kneel at the gate. There was no man among the people more hateful to us than the man upon whom we were about to enter. We entered, greeted, and pledged allegiance. We did not leave his presence until there was no man among the people more beloved to us than the man from whose presence we left. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, why did you not ask your Lord for a kingdom like the kingdom of Sulayman?' He laughed and said, 'Perhaps your companion has with Allah something better than the kingdom of Sulayman. Allah did not send any prophet except that He gave him a supplication. Among them are those who used it for worldly things and were given them, and among them are those who supplicated with it against their people and they were destroyed by it. Allah has given me a supplication, and I have stored it with my Lord as intercession for my nation on the Day of Resurrection.' "Muslim has used 'Ali b. Hashim as proof, and 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi 'Aqil al-Thaqafi is a companion whom our imams cite in their musnads. As for 'Abd al-Jabbar b. al-'Abbas, he is one whose hadith is collected and whose musnads are counted among the Kufans."
