✧ When one of you retires to his bed, an angel and a devil rush to him. The devil says, “Begin with evil,” and the angel says, “Begin with good.” If he remembers Allah, the devil departs and the angel comes and guards him. When he wakes up, an angel and a devil rush to him. The devil says, “Begin with evil,” and the angel says, “Begin with good.” If he says: “Praise be to Allah who restored my soul to me after its death and did not cause it to die in its sleep. Praise be to Allah who holds the heaven lest it fall upon the earth except by His permission; indeed Allah is kind and merciful to mankind. Praise be to Allah who gives life to the dead, and He is capable of everything,” then if he falls from a riding animal, he dies as a martyr, and if he rises and prays, he prays in a state of excellence.
