✧ Quraysh were called al-Hums, and they used to enter through doors while in a state of consecration, while the Ansar and the rest of the Arabs would not enter through doors while in a state of consecration. While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a garden, he came out through its door, and Qutbah b. Amir al-Ansari came out with him. They said: O Messenger of Allah, Qutbah b. Amir is an immoral man; he came out with you through the door. He said: "What made you do that?" He said: I saw you do it, so I did as you did. He said: "I am an Ahmasī." He said: "My religion is your religion." Then Allah ﷻ revealed: {It is not righteousness to enter houses from their backs, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors} [al-Baqarah 2:189].
