✧ I heard 'Umar b. al-Khattab say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us one day to give charity, and it coincided with wealth I had. I said, "Today I will surpass Abu Bakr, if I ever surpass him." So I came with half of my wealth, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What have you left for your family?" I said, "The like of it." Abu Bakr came with all that he had, and he said, "O Abu Bakr, what have you left for your family?" He said, "I have left them Allah and His Messenger." I said, "I will never race you to anything again."
