machine translationAl-Thawrī narrates it from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. al-Aṣbahānī, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah. There is disagreement from him about whether it is raised (marfūʿ): Muʾammal b. Ismāʿīl raised it, while ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī made it a statement of the Companion (mawqūf), and the mawqūf version is more likely correct.
